Tomorrow (February 17, 2016) is Random Act of Kindness Day.

It has been a month and a half since many of us formed our New Year’s Resolutions. I, like many of you, make commitments to myself to be a better person each day than I was the day before. Also, like many of you, I fail… a lot.

Kindness Spreads; Butterfly Flaps Wings

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is wasted. Aesop

I make an effort to smile at people, give food to people in need, or support efforts to create opportunities, but I’m not always able to see past my own nose. It is this effort to be kind that creates ripples that shine through my philosophy of sustainability.

I appreciate that there is a Random Act of Kindness Day to remind us all of how we should treat others. I want to encourage you to participate tomorrow and I would love for you to come back and tell us what you did. Some may not want to share and keep the gesture or act performed to themselves so as to not appear boastful or arrogant, and that is perfectly okay. Some may want to share to show others that there is still goodness in humanity. Some many want to read the comments and celebrate with you or imitate your act of kindness. Whichever path you choose, do so with your best intentions. Surely, if you are truly open to performing a random act of kindness, an opportunity will present itself.

Tomorrow, I will make an effort to remain conscious of others throughout the day. Will you join me?
