In a few weeks I will be taking off for Quito Ecuador to attend The International Ecotourism Society conference. I will have a free day when I arrive to walk around the city and get my bearings and another day at the end of the conference to see anything I desperately want to see before coming home. One stop will most likely be the Equator monument just north of Quito, which should be awesome. I have to admit, I am nervous about traveling by myself for the first time to a foreign country, but thrilled with the idea of being south of the equator for the first time.

Let me know if you have suggestions for what I should do in Quito, Ecuador or any travel tips for traveling alone.

Stay tuned: I will post about packing minimally for the trip and then post about the conference and Ecuador when I get back. Follow me on Facebook and Twitter.
